Blog

As part of the module TW4006 Writing for New Media we were given the assignment to write weekly blog posts about our lectures. Subjects ranged from accessibility to privacy. I have a passion for writing, which made this module very appealing to me and the assessment right up my alley. Weekly, I would put together a written blog post on what I had learnt in class as well as giving my opinions on the topics covered and my own analysis of what was going on in the world of New Media.

In total I wrote 11 blogposts throughout the semester. I found the experience to be very enjoyable. Writing about each weeks learning outcomes help to solidify what I had studied. I was able to explore creative writing within each post and I took pride in making my writing engaging and entertaining for the reader while also teaching different aspects of writing for New Media. I found that I really enjoyed coming up with witty titles which contained puns, to capture the readers attention. I created a theme for my blog, with simplistic image thumbnails to go along with each post and adopted an informal writing style, as the blog was a personal reflection on what I was being taught in class.

I found I could easily write a blog post a week and even did reading outside the syllabus as I found the topics so interesting. I learnt to schedule blog posts if I had written any in advance and allowed myself time to edit and refine each post so that it would be the best reflection of my work. I learnt the important of categorizing posts and using hashtags to attract an audience and to present my work in a clear, concise way which was easy to follow and provided the reader with useful information as well as entertainment.
